Just arrived - This 1971 HG Monaro has been done up to a Norman Beechey GTS Tribute and what a cracking car it is. Beechey drove his HT GTS 350 for Shell in 1970, taking three victories, and a second place at Symmons. He took the Monaro to first place in Round 2 at Bathurst, then at Sandown Park Raceway, and secured the Championship with a win at Lakeside. This made Beechey the first driver to win Australia’s premier tin-top title in an Australian made car. This great achievement is what the HG has been made to honour, and what an honour it is. Originally a "Cinnamon Brown" 253 V8 Monaro, this HG has transformed into a beautiful Tribute car. There is very little that hasn't been upgraded or modified on this car. The Chev motor has been stroked to 383ci, making roughly 505hp, paired with a 4 speed transmission with an INDY shifter. Upgrades throughout the engine include a Scat 3.48 crank, Speed Pro Hyperutectic pistons, Speed Pro lifters, Comp Cams USA Roller Rockers, Edelbrok Alloy Heads, US Billet Cam, Eagle I Beam Rods, Edelbrock Air Gap manifold, and so much more. A Yella Terra Lightweight Steel Flywheel has been fitted as well as Pacemaker headers and a McCleod USA clutch kit. All engine and clutch upgrades as well as Dyno Tuning were performed by BG Engines. Hagen Zerk Automotive replaced front and rear suspension, upper and lower control arm bushes, fitted recondition HQ front calipers, converted the column shift to the floor, and plenty more too. The HG is complete with files documenting the multitude of upgrades done to the car over the years. It was repainted in the honorary yellow and GTS badging and stripes added to match Beechey's HT about 15 years ago. Since the car's completion, it has done very few kms and presents in beautiful condition, and comes with magnets of the shell livery as seen on the HT.
