Released on 26 July 1970, the HG Monaro was the last of the original coupé design concept. HG had cleaner lines with brightwork reduced and some re-designed. The HG sported different striping (delete options) which were known as "sidewinder" stripes which ran along the top edge of the fenders, under the windows and finishing just before the rear pillar. The "Monaro" badge on both rear pillars was introduced to all models   The original books confirm this particular car was originally bought new from O.G Roberts & Co on the 12.9.1970 and was delivered to a Mr R.D Thompson. The current owner searched for many years trying to find an original car that hadn't been bastardised too much and settled on this car. Unfortunately with new projects on the horizon he has decided to put this car on the market. Recent work carried out to the car includes a mini make over including the undercarriage, gearbox and engine. The HK/HT/HG Monaro's are reaching new levels of popularity with collectors, as they become properly appreciated for their place in Australian motoring history. Many of the 186S examples have been updated over the years to the more desirable V8 so finding an original 186 is getting harder and harder to locate.
