Rego DMCLS1
I bought this car as a project around 4-5 years ago. It was imported with 2 others around a year prior to that. It was a body off the chassis restoration. The suspension has been completely rebuilt with new bushes and bolts. The brakes (Hi Spec racing) have been completely upgraded (Booster, master cylinder, callipers and vented and slotted discs) to cope with the extra power. New wheel bearings fitted. New ball joints in the front end. Fully rebuilt steering rack. The suspension has been rebushed; springs and shock absorbers are Eibach and it now rides at the original design height (you will notice that the US cars ride higher ~45mm to reach the California bumper height requirement). The lower control arms under braking – the lower control arms are now ‘boxed’ in with SS bracing kit from DeLorean Europe. The engine (LS1) had done 9000 km when I bought it and it has been completely rebuilt so that I was sure that it was fine. It has LS2 heads on it (higher compression) and a mild cam. It is putting out approximately 280kW at the wheels. I also put an LS2 front on it (water pump, harmonic balancer, Alternator and AC mounting) to save on room. The whole motor and gearbox have been moved forward 50mm. The radiator is an aluminium radiator from DeLorean Europe. I have used hi-flow fans. These run continuously when the AC is on. The AC runs great and is very cold. The gearbox was rebuilt with a solid main input shaft and Quaife limited slip diff. I have also fitted a taller fifth gear so that the v8 revs at around 1850rpm at 110km/h. The seats, dash, console, roof lining and interior cards have all been reupholstered. It is a good reliable car. My first drive was from Sydney to Bairnsdale in Victoria going via Canberra, Cooma, Bombala, Cann River; then to Melbourne and back to Sydney along the Hume. When I can I have done lots of short trips around here, Sydney, out to Mittagong etc. The reason for selling is to raise funds to start another project (LS1 powered FJ40 Land Cruiser). The car is fully engineered for NSW. There are many other parts that have been restored and to many to list here.
