1957 STARLINER 30971 One of 100 made by the Flxible Co. Loudonville USA between 1957 and 1959. From very extensive research I estimate there are less than a dozen registered anywhere. Import approval document from the Dept of Infrastructure and Transport for Flxible Starliner 30971. Engine is a Cummins 6CTA 8.3LT 250HP diesel mechanical turbo after cooled. Starts first time every time. Valve clearances have been set, timing case seal replaced and speedy seal fitted to crankshaft. All coolant and turbo hoses, oil, 2 x fuel, water filters and engine oil replaced. Air compressor unloader valve is new and set to unload at 120 psi. Radiator has been dismantled, cleaned and pressure tested. 4 overhead fans installed for extra cooling. Transmission is an Allison MT643 4 speed auto. Recently taken out and completely rebuilt with new internals by professional Transmission Co specialising in trucks and buses here in Adelaide. New transmission oil cooler and fan included - to be installed. Converter also stripped and re built with new parts. Tail shaft is new and purposely manufactured to suit all-new hub to hub rear axle. Rear axle & Diff is completely overhauled and complete from hub to hub including all new brake equipment and chambers. Tyre's have done about 100km Batteries are new (2) with crank power of Hoses are all new including oil and air from the rear to the front and return Front brakes have been fully re built with new chambers, hoses, seals, bearings and other hardware parts. Suspension (Shocks) units to all wheels are new. Torsilastic suspension (exclusive to the Starliners) seem to be just fine. I have bought new complete Torsilastic suspension for both front and rear including shackles from overseas in case of any future problems. These Torsilastic suspension units are only made by one company and I hear that they have or will be discontinuing the manufacture of them. Instruments are all new from Speed Hut in the USA. I had the Flxible logo made into Victor Fonts so it could be included onto all the instruments. Kept original Air Pressure gauge which was restored to full working order. The gauges need to be "set up". This is not difficult and Speed Hut provide instruction details with diagrams which I have. Wiring is new for all running gear and instruments. Inside wiring needs to be installed. Rust was all cut out and replaced with correct metal - very fortunate here as there was very little rust. Body panels where repairs were need were taken off and replaced. Pors 15 and Aust equivalent was painted on all frames and inside the underneath bins. Insulation has been placed on the inside of all side and roof panels primarily to stop/reduce any vibration. Further insulation needs to be placed on top of this to assist blocking heat transfer. Windscreens have been replaced with new provided by Windscreens O'Brien who had them made for the Club. Wipers are electric and new. Need to be adjusted. Info and diagrams available on how to do this. Water bottle installed. Rubber seals are all new and are included for doors and eyebrows. Body has been stripped to bare metal primed and painted with 2 Pak. All the black metal on body exclusive to Starliners and including front and rear bumpers and bin doors have been stripped and powder coated. Roof being aluminium has been stripped by hand, primed and painted with 2 Pak Diesel tanks have been manufactured in stainless steel with all new hoses and fuel senders either side of Starliner with switch up front Auto steps for front passenger and Drivers side. Passenger side installed - needs to be wired in. Steering has been changed from LHD to RHD with engineers report and new metal plate to be fixed to pillar or door frame. Tilt/Telescopic Wheel installed. Power steering installed. Complete comprehensive job report available. Cruise control included - needs to be installed Front door has been manufactured for LHS entrance. Now has both left hand and right hand front doors. Rear door for LHS has been manufactured. Now have both LHS and RHS rear doors. Manuals include copies of the C Series Cummins Diesel Engine shop manual, the Allison MT643 Transmission Owners Manual, Starliner Service Parts List, Starliner Maintenance Manual, Toilet is included and is new in the box. It is an Enviropro - Nature's Head Composting Toilet. Installation of this type of toilet alleviates the need for a black waste tank and the use of excess water. This gives extra room underneath the Starliner. Air Horns fitted - connection to air needs to be completed. Second electric horn is working. Entertainment unit - Included, Needs be installed. Vids, Camera, Radio etc. Washing machine - New in the box is included and will fit well in the rear. Rear camera - Installed, needs to be connected to entertainment unit. When connected can show both reversing scenes and rear view scenes while driving. Inside - Completely gutted - floors walls, ceilings. Under floor rubber fitted after Pors15 painted on all metal surfaces. Sides painted in 2Pak. New floor fitted. Driver's seat installed keeping original bottom unit and spring. Passenger's seat installed. I have not completed the fit out inside so now the new owner can create what suits.
