The Production report from Holden confirms it is a matching numbers car and was delivered new at Shack Motors on the 12/1972 The SS option gave the buyer a 4.2-litre V8 and four-speed manual under the bonnet, along with interior appointments like the GTS instruments, sports steering wheel and bucket seats. Available in three colours, including 'Infra Red', 'Ultra Violet' and 'Lettuce Alone', the SS proved a great success and has been a part of the Holden line-up, off and on, ever since. According to one Holden source, two batches of HQ SS sedans were built at the end of 1972, 1,600 in the first and 1,200 in the second, for a total production run of around 2,800 units, with each priced at $3,295. Rarely seen for sale and especially in this restored condition.
