Just arrived - This 1971 Volkswagen Beetle 1302 is something rare! Along the Beetle's extensive history, 1970 came with the introduction of the 1302, otherwise known as the Superbug. This design was more refined, being smoother, quieter, and generally more modern than any of its predecessors. A 1600cc 50bhp motor powers this Superbug, and it was optioned with the 3 speed semi-automatic 'Autostick' transmission. Though the number of Beetles optioned with this gearbox is undetermined, it'd be a wonder to know just how many survived the test of time. The motor was reconditioned in 2012 by Port City Engines as well as clutch, transmission and suspension work carried out in 2017. Finished in Moss Green, the Bug received extensive body repairs and a respray in 2014. The Bug comes with a small file of receipts documenting the work done over the years and an original instruction manual. It presents nicely for the age of the vehicle and receives many a nostalgic smile. It would make a perfect entry-level classic for those who love Beetles, and it's eligible for historic registration to keep on-road costs at a minimum. More photos to come!
