The Series III VS ute replaced a hole in the market as there was an increase in demand for commercial vehicles. It gained the 179kW VT 5L V8, compared to the 165kW available in all other utes, with upgraded electronics and sequential fuel injection giving the new V8 a lot more power. Additionally available was the 'S pack', which scored you a lip kit, level 2 dash, air conditioning, colour-coded mirrors, and different trim options. Delivered new from Suttons Motors NSW, the VS was also taken in for HSV upgrades where it was fitted with a 5.7L VT 220kw motor. This is paired with the 'M34' 5-speed manual gearbox.
