The Series III VS ute replaced a hole in the market as there was not yet a VT ute, and so continued production until Dec 2000. This was indentifiable by clear side blinker repeater lights and ' Series III' badging. The Series III gaibned the 179kW VT 5L V8, compared to the 165kW available in all other utes. Upgraded electronics and sequential fuel-injection gave the new V8 a lot more power. Originally sold by Springwood Holden in NSW, this VS has recieved HDT upgrades which were optional from the dealer including engine enhancement. The VS is driven by a 5L V8, which is joined to a 4 speed automatic gear box. The VS is also fitted with a hard tonnaue cover, tub liner, Allin towbar, and upgraded sound system.
